And [also] those who spend of their wealth to be seen by the people and believe not in Allah nor in the Last Day. And he to whom Satan is a companion - then evil is he as a companion.

I am nothing but a total failure. I own things I love the most, but I fail to keep them forever. I have wishes, but nothing seems to come easily. I have faith on fate, but maybe fate, it seems, isn't with me. I work hard on things I believe worth having, but nothing seems worth it. Wish me luck. I just want to live even living is hard.

Kau ada keeee?

Yesterday, I was perhaps someone like this: Gosh! I wish I were her. New handbags, new shoes, new watches, new .... Owh, she's a very lucky girl indeed. Kau ada keee? But then, today I realise that I shouldn't say those things as in al-Qasas: He replied: "All that I have been given is by virtue of the knowledge that I possess." Did he (Qarun) not know that Allah had destroyed many people before, who were mightier in strength and greater in riches than him? But the criminals are not called to account immediately for their sins [78]. One day he came out before his people in his worldly glitter, those who sought the life of this world said: "Would that we had the like of Qarun’s fortune! He is indeed a very lucky man."[79]. But those who were endowed with knowledge said: "Alas for you! Better is the reward of Allah for him that has faith and does good deeds; but none shall attain it save those who endured with fortitude"[80]. Then We caused the e

Memory

Recently, instead of doing my readings and assignments, I was busy making jilbab for sale ;) Then today, I start reading again ;) The book is: Learning and Memory by Donald A Norman. As laboratory studies of the testimony of eyewitnesses have shown, memory of the past cannot be trusted; the apparent vividness and richness of a memory of an accident or a crime may be misleading. But memory of the just present differs considerably from memory of the past. Memory of the present brings with it memory of the sensory details that accompany the information. It is a memory that is detailed, complete and reasonably accurate in its content. Seriously, I am really interested with the above paragraph. From above I conclude that, Past memories cannot be trusted and can be misleading. But if you really want to keep your past, I suggest you to start writing a diary *it's also a good attempt to improve your writing skill ;) . Yet, I hate diary. Past is past. Who cares? The only thing it w

The P word

Here I learn to separate personal life from professional life in order to maintain professionalism. Giving either phone number or details of your social network page is consider as inappropriate and may harm your professionalism. At first I thought that these are nonsense. I thought culturally, Malaysians are different from the British thus I considered that something which are inappropriate in the UK might be appropriate in Malaysia. Yet, through FB I am able to observe how world is doing. Unfortunately, I find the opposite. The incidents that happen to some of my friends and some outsiders make me vow that I'll never share my private life with my students in the future. I agree that it is not appropriate for students to know how good or bad our personal life is as it may alter their perception of us. You work hard to make people respect you, but your carelessness makes your hard work disappears.

Deschooling Society - Final Part.

A good educational system should have three purposes: it should provide all who want to learn with access to available resources at any time in their lives empower all who want to share what they know to find those who want to learn form them furnish all who want to present an issue to the public with the opportunity to make their challenge known (p.75) Schools are designed on the assumption that there is a secret to everything in life; that the quality of life depends on knowing that secret; that secrets can be known only in orderly successions; and that only teachers can properly reveal these secrets. An individual with a schooled mind conceives of the world as a pyramid. Their purpose must be to facilitate access for the learber: to allow him to look into the windows of the control room or the parliament, if he cannot get in by the door. (p.76) We now need a name for those who value hope above expectations. We need a name for those who love people more than products, those
