Faber and Mazlish

Buku ni best. Seriously but to apply all the suggested ideas are quite impossible. Huh. Penat ok. Had once tried one of the strategies on my kesayangan but still end up failing. ;). Belum cukup pro.

Some interesting sentences from this book:

We're products of our past. We speak to our students the way our parents and teachers spoke to us.

The sad truth is that in today's world, kids are being subjected to unprecedented stress and neglect. If we're to have any hope of helping them master their academic skills, we have to help them unpack some of the emotional baggage they carry into our classrooms. That means our role as teacher has to be change to include many elements of parenting.

Our role as educators is not to supply "right" answer but to help children arrive at answers through their own thinking process.

As teachers our goal is greater than just passing on facts and information,
If we want our students to be caring human beings, then we need to respond to them in caring ways.
If we value our children's dignity, then we need to model the methods that affirm their dignity.
If we want to send out into the world young people who respect themselves and respect others, then we need to begin by respecting them. And we cant do that unless we show respect for what they feel.

Owh, and the cartoons are very helpful:

taken from here.

And so many more.

p/s: This is one of my most favourite books. *Macam banyak sangat je bunyinya favourite books*
