My October

Despite of my piling works and my not-getting-any-better fever, I managed to finish reading two inspiring books. The two are Life Without Limits by Nick Vujicic and Find Your Strongest Life by Marcus Buckingham. Life Without Limits. Life Without Limits is basically a compilation of advices told by a person without limbs. The man who is a strong believer of Christ frequently pinpoints his situation and limitations and  later explains on how he manages to deal it. He's successfully arranged his words thus people who are beautifully born with limbs will get inspired and have the guts to fight their limitations. I think that it is helpful for you to have a gist of this book by studying the chapters of the 272 pages book: If You Can't Get a Miracle, Become One. No Arms, No Legs, No Limit. Full Assurance in the Heart. Love the Perfectly Imperfect You. Attitude is Altitude. Armless But Not Harmless. Don't Let Your Face Plant Grow Roots. The New Bloke in the ...

He is with me, always.

Nick and I pray to different Gods but we share the same view that God has His plans which are much better than ours  and that He loves us, human, dearly.  Readers, God is with us. He witnesses every tear we drop, every pain we bear and every hardship we fight. He's planned everything for our own good. Thus, n o matter how threatening your life has been, don't lose hope. He got something special planned for you at the end of your tedious journey. Keep on walking, keep on tripping, believe me, it's worth it!  You and I are only human. We cannot see into the future. Instead, we picture the possibilities for what might be. Only God knows how our lives will unfold. Hope is His gift to us, a window to look through. We cannot know the future He has planned for us. Trust in Him, keep hope in your heart, and even when faced with the worst, do whatever you can to prepare yourself for the best! (page 33) Now reading: Life Without Limits by Nick V...

Choose

Image
I was passing through my colleague's table when I saw this book on his desk: Though I was in a rush, I stopped to flick through the book before reaching him to let me have the book for the night. And yeah, he lend me this and I've managed to read it from cover to cover by now. Yeayyy! This is a good book which provides brief explanations on the greatest power that humans own which is: the power to choose. Though it is only a 55 pages book, it has, to an extent, influenced my living perception. A day ago, I took every shit that happens in my life as God's punishment. Though there are tragedies which I could simply blame others for my misfortune, I keep telling myself that part of it happened because I've sinned a lot yet this book helps me to realise the total opposite.   We must realize that there is nothing outside of ourselves to hurt us. God doesn't hurt us. God loves us. Therefore what can hurt us - only our own bad choosing. Yeah, God do lo...

The 8th Habit: from Effectiveness to Greatness

Image
It has been a damn long time since the last time I managed to enjoy reading a book. Now that difficult days seem to come at an end, I choose to spend my time reading great books. Today, I am enjoying The 8th Habit: from Effectiveness to Greatness by Stephen Covey. Below are some quotes from the book: Leadership is a choice not a position. What is most personal is most general (Carl Rogers) I abandoned the bird's-eye view that let you see everything from above, from the sky. I assumed a worm's-eye views, trying to find whatever comes right in front of you- smell it, touch it, see if you can do something about it (Muhammad Yunus) Quality knowledge work is so valuable that unleashing its potential offers organizations an extraordinary opportunity for value creation. If you want to make minor, incremental changes and improvements, work on practices, behaviour and attitude. But if you want to make significant, quantum improvement, work on paradigms (a per...

Find me someone like Randy.

Image
This is not him: This is him: Meet Randy Pausch .  He's adorable and the kind of guy I would like to say Hi! HAHA I know him through the Oprah show. He was invited to give a synopsis of his famous lecture, 'The Last Lecture'. Basically he amazed me. He was diagnosed as having pancreatic cancer. As one of the people who was facing death, he had two choices of life. First to weep and the latter is to inspire people. He chose the latter. And yes, I am inspired by him. He on the Oprah show. Recently, I went to Popular and bumped into his book, 'The Last Lecture'. It is a hardcover book and the book is only RM25++. I brought the book to the counter and yeah, I took it home with me.    To be honest, this is a book worth reading. If you want a good last advice from a dying man, read this book. The book inspires. It discloses ways to unlock your dreams, childhood dreams especially. This book doesn't pay the price. The story i...

Memories, Dreams and Reflections.

by Carl Jung. I've started picking up books and it is a good thing as it's been months since the last time I've picked up any book. I feel good. ;) Women [...] They often have excellent intuition and critical insight, and can see what men have up their sleeves, at times see also into men's anima intrigues. They see aspects that the man does not see. We no longer live on what we have, but on promises, no longer in the light of the present day, but in the darkness of the future, which, we expect, will at last bring the proper sunrise. We refuse to recognise that everything better is purchased at the price of something worse. But when one follows the path of the individual, when one lives one's own life, one must take mistakes into the bargain; life would not be complete without them. There is no guarantee that we will not fall into error or stumble into deadly peril. Anyone who takes the sure road is as good as dead. Loneliness does not come from having no ...
